Pemra to issue FM radio license to ITP

06 May, 2007

Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has decided to issue the first ever non-commercial FM radio license to Islamabad Traffic Police. The broadcast license is aimed to serve as bridge between Islamabad Traffic Police and the general public.
Once the transmission is launched, it will enable ITP to interact with general public in order to educate them traffic rules and conditions, commuting problems, safety guidelines and other subjects regarding traffic management.
The initiative taken by Pemra will prove a trailblazer to the ongoing police reforms by depicting the positive, constructive and affirmative role of police to the masses. In future such licenses will also be issued for other metropolitan cities on the request of the respective metropolitan traffic police.
