06 May, 2007

Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) officials in a joint statement said the City Government District Karachi (CDGK) had totally failed to remove the encroachments in Korangi industrial area in spite of repeated reminders.
Kati officials, including Chairman Masood Naqi, Senior Vice Chairman Shaikh Fazl-e-Jalil and Vice Chairman Main Zia-ul-Hassan further said that perhaps some unknown forces compelled the CDGK not to take action against land grabbers.
"On one hand the CDGK is doing a great job in revamping the Korangi industrial area, especially the construction of road 8000, but on the other hand their good work is overshadowed due to the encroachments," they said.
They further said that work of reconstruction of road 8000 - the main Korangi road - was at fag end. But due to encroachments between Murtaza and Dawood chowrangi, the work could not be finished in time and this piece of two kilometres would not be completed until and unless encroachments in this entire piece was not removed.
They urged the CDGK to take action against encroachments in the area and also at Mehran Town. They also urged Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Minister for Labour, Transport, Communication and Industries Mohammed Adil Siddiqui, Advisor to Chief Minister for Home Department Wasim Akhtar and City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal to take action for removal of encroachments on road 8000 and Mehran Town.-PR
