The Consul General of Poland in Karachi H E and Ms Ireneusz Makles hosted tonight here at the Sheraton Hotel a colourful reception marking the National Day of the Republic of Poland which is celebrated in Poland on May 3 each year. It is also marking the 26th Anniversary of the Polish Constitution.
A new trend was set on the occasion in respect of the ceremonial cake cutting when four Minister and Advisors of the Government of Sindh including Minister for Minerals Irfanullah Marwat, the Advisor of Finance M A Jalil, the Advisor on Information Salahudding Haider and Deputy Nazim Nasreen Jalil joined Consul General Makles and his wife and the Dean of the Consul Corps H E Dr Hassan Attar in cutting the ceremonial cake and extending greeting of the occasion of the Polish Consul General and his wife.
The cake cutting was done after the formal playing of the National Anthems of Poland and Pakistan. Also joining in the cake cutting ceremony specially were Fazal Karim Dadabhy, chairman of the Pakistan-Poland Business Forum and Chairman of the Pakistan-Poland Friendship Association M I Memon.
The Minister and the Advisor attending the cake cutting ceremony remarked that the recent visit to Poland of President Pervez Mushrraf had opened up new vistas of co-operation between Pakistan and Poland. They all looked forward to the growth of trade and economic exchange on a larger scale between the two countries.
The Polish Consul General and his wife thanked the guests for the sentiments expressed and stressed that their effort in Karachi has always been to promote closer ties between the two countries.
Attending the Polish National Day reception among the Consular Corps in Karachi were the Consul General of Indonesia Mustakim and his wife, the Consul Daniel Hamish, the Consul General of Thailand Joompol Manaschuang, the Consul General of Japan, the Consul General of UAE Sohail Mattar Ketbi, the Consul General of Russian Federation, the US Consul and many others.
