Banks advised to finance CNG rickshaws, buses scheme

Banks have been asked to issue maximum loans under the uplift schemes introduced by the Punjab government, especially loans to promote environment-friendly public transport on the roads, like CNG rickshaws and buses.
Punjab Minister for Power, Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani, talking to a transporters' delegation here on Wednesday, said that the government wanted to finish operation of smoke-emitting two-stroke rickshaws in Lahore by the end of 2007, and later in other cities of the province under a phased programme.
