A delegation comprising academic staff of various departments from different universities of Bangladesh, led by vice-chancellor University of Chittagong, M Badiul Islam, on Wednesday visited GC University Lahore and called on its vice-chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Aftab. vice-chancellor the GCU apprised the delegation members of the academic culture and rich historic traditions of the university.
He also told the delegation members about the different disciplines being offered at the GCU and shared with them his views pertaining to the civic life of Lahore. The vice-chancellor of Chittagong University Professor M Badiul Islam introduced the delegation members to his Pakistani counterpart and expressed his interest to develop academic links with the GCU in different departments.
Professor M Badiul Islam also informed Dr Khalid Aftab that the purpose of their visit to the different universities in Pakistan was to explore the possibility of exchange program.
Vice-Chancellor of the Raj Shahi University, Bangladesh, Professor Dr M Altaf Hussain, while taking part in the discussion, highlighted the academic profile of his university. He said that the university had seven faculties and 47 departments with 3,300 enrolled students.
Dr Muhammad Nazrul Islam, Rashida Khanam and Professor Dr Begum Asma Siddiqua of the visiting delegation also expressed their views about their respective academic fields. Vice Chancellor GCU Professor Dr Khalid Aftab said that this kind of academic interaction is vital for the promotion of academic development for both GCU and Bangladeshi universities. He added that GCU has the academic-friendly culture which encourages the students to know and form their opinions.
Professor Dr Khalid Aftab was assisted by Dean Faculty of Arts, Dr Sohail Ahmad Khan, Dean of Sciences, Dr Amin ul Haq, Registrar Dr Zaheer Ahmad Siddiqi, Iram Sohail, Professor Muhammad Azhar Chaudhry and Professor Muhammad Iqbal Anjum.
Later, the delegation members were taken to the Fazal-e-Hussain Hall of the university where they were shown the video documentary of GCU Lahore. They also visited other departments of GCU, including Political Science, Zoology and Institute of Industrial Bio-Technology.
