Allotment of plots: Interior Division clarifies

10 May, 2007

A spokesman of the Interior Division has strongly rebutted a report appearing in the Business Recorder, which inaccurately reflected the situation regarding allotment of plots. The allegations he said, in the report are totally baseless.
The impression created in the remarks regarding allotment of plots to NGOs by the Prime Minister is incorrect. In fact, all allotments of plots to NGOs for education purposes were made by the CDA Board as per their laid down criteria in a transparent manner.
The plot in F-9 Park was allotted, not to any individual but to Nazria-e-Pakistan Council for establishment of Aiwna-e-Quaid to honour Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Father of the Nation. This was done before the assumption of office by the present Prime Minister, he said.
The allotment of plots to Federal Secretaries by the Prime Minister was not meant to win support or oblige any favourites. This is the first government, which has offered plots and housing facilities to all its employees from BS-1 to BS-22 who met the eligibility criteria, across the board.
Previously, plots were given by the governments on a selective basis to their favourite bureaucrats in a non-transparent manner without following any criteria. In fact, under the present policy, all Federal government employees, regardless of their grade, shall be allotted plots or built up houses on easy instalments to assure them a shelter after their retirement.
