A decision has been taken to construct a security wall around Okara cantonment after consulting all the representatives of the nearby villages, says an ISPR release issued here on Wednesday.
"In view of the prevailing security environment in the country, the government has taken various appreciable proactive measures to prevent any untoward incident," the release said. "In the same backdrop, a decision was taken for the construction of a security wall all around the Okara cantonment. Prior to the construction of the wall, the representatives of nearby Chaks and Lumberdars were taken into complete confidence."
"Frequent meetings were arranged between government officials, senior military officers and representatives of Chaks, during which the purpose of construction of wall was clarified." The representatives of the Chaks and Lumberdars assured full cooperation and appreciated the project.
The Chaks' representatives were assured that the farmers who are cultivating the land inside cantonment limits would continue to cultivate it without any restriction. They were also assured that their children studying in various government schools/colleges inside cantonment would be facilitated for their education.
