Switzerland donates $1.6 million for quake relief

Switzerland will provide $1.6 million to support ERRA's Private Rural housing reconstruction programme in the earthquake affected areas of NWFP. An agreement to this effect was signed between the Deputy Chairman ERRA Nadeem Ahmad and the Swiss Ambassador Markus Peter in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The amount will be spent during the next two and a half years in Mansehra and Battagram districts. Speaking on the occasion, Swiss Ambassador Markus Peter lauded ERRA's role in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of quake affected areas.
He said that the Swiss Agency for development and cooperation had established human resource centres in Mansherra and Battagram and so far over three thousand master trainers have been trained there. Deputy Chairman ERRA Nadeem Ahmad appreciated the support of the people and the Swiss government in the wake of the October 8 earthquake.
