Muttahida Majlis Amal Sindh chief MNA Maulana Asadullah Bhutto criticised the arrests and raids on leaders and workers of the opposition parties and termed it blatant violation of human rights that showed government's nervousness.
In a statement issued on Friday, he said removing camps set up for reception of Chief Justice of Pakistan across the metropolis was open terrorism by the Sindh government. He said, "Home Secretary wrote to cancel CJP's visit and now the MMA's reception camps were removed and MMA Sindh Vice president Qambar Abbas Naqvi, Bin Qasim District Ameer Kamal Farooqi, Naseem Siddiqi Ameer North Nazimabad Zone and hundred of workers were arrested."
He said that despite abuse of state power, magnificent welcome would be given to the CJP, as flood of public could not be controlled. MMA leader believed that the ruling ally backed MQM rally while the centre remained silent spectator. He said stage is being set in the metropolis in view of Prime Minster's statement regarding imposition of emergency.
Karachiites will foil such conspiracy, he said and added prisons could be packed with people but movement against dictatorship and for supremacy of judiciary was unstoppable. He reiterated warm welcome would be accorded on arrival of CJP on Saturday May 12. He appealed to people of Sindh in general and Karachi in particular to get out of their homes for peaceful reception of CJP.
