Durrani for adoption of foolproof intelligence gathering mechanism

The NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has emphasised the need for enhanced co-operation and close liaison among all law enforcing agencies and establishing of a comprehensive intelligence gathering mechanism in order to check criminal activities in the province.
"Some anti-social elements are active to sabotage the peaceful environment of the province by using innocent people for fulfilling their nefarious designs. Durrani said while chairing a high level meeting on law and order situation.
The meeting was attended among others by Chief Secretary Sahibzada Riaz Noor, Home Secretary Badshah Gul Wazir, IGP Sharif Virk, Commandant Frontier Constabulary Malak Naveed, Colonel Laiqat of Frontier Corps and high ranking police officials.
Durrani said that with advent of elections year their responsibility towards maintaining peace in the province has been increased. It should be find out that which elements were working behind the terror activities in the province and were threatening people through various tactics. "What kind of weaknesses are there in our intelligence gathering mechanism and why the situation on district levels are going out of control," Durrani said.
Durrani said that there is no restriction in Islam over women education and it does not allow terrorising someone through inhuman acts. He said for prevention of criminal activities and lawlessness and other anti-social acts, we have to take along Ulema and should solicit their support in this regard as mosques and seminaries could help us resolve all the issues pertaining to peace.
Chief Minister assured that banned outfits which had been made non-functional by the federal government would not be allowed to carry out demonstrations or meetings and the directives of the federal government in this connection would strictly be followed.
Durrani pledged that intelligence gathering mechanism would be made more effective and such information would be gathered to identify weaknesses in the system so that remedial measures could follow. Durrani said that concentration would be kept focused on the situation in Swat and no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands. The mission of preaching and reconciliation by Ulema would continue in order to find out ways for establishing peace in the province.
Chief Minister directed law enforcing agencies to keep utmost vigilance over the suspicious activities and make more effective the monitoring system.
