With the rise in temperature in region, the skin diseases have also increased now a day, as the number of such patients has almost doubled in the hospitals.
"The number of patients visiting Skin Diseases Hospital in Karachi alone in a day is about 5,000 as compared to half of it during normal season, while in other hospitals of city ratio of patients with skin problems is 200 to 300 daily", Dr Sikandar Mahar, Medical Superintendent of Hospital told PPI. This hospital receives such patients from across the province, he added. Dr Mahar said that the excessive exposure to the ultra violet rays of the sun could be dangerous for the skin and people suffering from skin abnormalities were particularly at high risk.
"Poor hygiene during summer season too causes skin diseases, as there has been an increase in the number of skin related patients with the start of summer", he said.
"Several patients are suffering from fungal infections and skin disorders caused by poor hygiene", he added.
