Partial closure of shops on ARD strike call

Like other parts of the country, complete strike was observed in the metropolis and wholesales markets remained closed in response to ARD's strike call to protest massive killings in Karachi on May 12.
However, shops in major shopping centres including PACE, Orega Centre, Hafeez Centre and Liberty Market remained open amid thin turnover of customers. Similarly, intra-city and inter-city transports continued to ply on roads as per routine.
The markets which remained completely closed include Akbari Mandi, Paper Market, Urdu Bazaar, currency markets, Hall Road, The Mall, Beadon Road, Ferozpur Road, Jail Road, Queens Road, McLeod Road, Shah Alam Market, Azam Cloth Market, Circular Road, Badami Bagh, Anarkali, Abid Market while Montgomery Road remained partially closed.
