Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has stressed the need for construction of mega dams to meet the energy requirements of the country. "Persistent shortage of electricity would affect the economic growth", said Dr Hasan Sarosh Akram, President Rawalpindi Chamber.
While addressing a news briefing regarding the budget proposals. Mian Pervaiz Aslam, also addressed the gathering. He proposed immediate measures for strengthening the industrial sector of country. "Government should reduce taxes and give relief to industrial sector in raw material to make the products cost effective and competitive in international market", he said adding that these measures of government would help increase the exports.
The chamber has repeated its old demand to decrease the GST from 15 to 12 percent, while it proposed that the GST on utility bills of industrial and commercial sector should be zero rate. They also demanded that the retail tax should be extended to every category of retailers. He also demanded constitution of a national task force for software exports to attain the set target of $4 billion.
