Lawyers here on Thursday in the metropolis took out a rally on the Mall Road, which was also joined by political workers and activists of human rights organisations. They also observed strike in protest against the killings in Karachi and suspension of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
The lawyers also boycotted the courts' proceedings and bars hoisted black flags at the buildings. The workers of political parties PML-N, PPP, PTI, MMA, Labour Party, Khaksaar Tehrik, Istiqlal Party and Pakistan Qaumi Party joined them along with Women Action Forum and other human rights organisations joined them.
Among others Secretary Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) Sarfraz Chaudhry, Vice-President, Firdous Butt, President Lahore Bar Association (LBA) Shah Mauhammad and former Vice-Chairman Pakistan Bar Council Hafiz Abdur Rehman Ansari addressed the rally.
While addressing the lawyers in front of Punjab Assembly the speakers said that lawyers would continue their peaceful protest till the revival of Chief Justice Pakistan, rule of law and freedom of judiciary.
