The quarterly co-ordination meeting between delegations of Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) and Border Security Force, India was held at JCP Wahga (Pakistan side), here on Thursday. Pakistan delegation was headed by Brigadier M Qaiser Khan Tareen, Deputy Director General, Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) while Shri A K Jain, DIG BSF India represented the Indian side.
This meeting is part of a mutually agreed programme aimed at measures being taken by the guarding forces of the two countries for the management of border duties.
During the meeting, deliberations on issues related to inadvertent crossers, illegal entrants and other border related issues, were held. Issues like drug trafficking, repatriation of inadvertent crossers and simultaneous co-ordinated patrolling along international border also came under discussion, sources said.
Brigadier M Qaiser Khan Tareen told newsmen that Pakistan is faced with terrorism and the government of Pakistan is committed to curb this trans-national menace. He further said the status of this international border should remain the same and no further construction must be undertaken in this area.
