'Higher education indispensable to meet challenges'

Higher education is indispensable to meet the challenges of 21st century, stated Iftikhar Ali Malik, co-chairman, Businessmen Panel and FPCCI, LCCI former president at the round table conference arranged by Pakistan National Forum on higher education.
Governor Punjab Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd), Mian Tajammal Hussain, V C Veterinary University, Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz, V C Govt College University, Dr Khaliq Aftab, V C University of education, Professor Dr Munawwar Mirza, Professor Dr Noor Muhammad Sheikh, Professor Dr Bushra Hussain, Former Secretary, Foreign Affairs, Shamshad Ahmed Khan also participated.
Malik suggested that industries and their foreign principals and multinational companies working in Pakistan should help the government to establish universities for imparting higher education in various disciplines necessary for chemical, pharmaceutical and engineering industries for development. He said such universities could help Pakistan improve human resources standard and qualification.
He said the chambers and federation should establish research cells to guide the private sector and run universities for quality education. He suggested that retired professors of foreign technical universities should be invited for training the educationalist in various technical disciplines.
