Sindh Minister for Local Government, Katchi Abadies and Spatial Development, Muhammad Hussain Khan has directed Nazims of all local body institutions of the province to hold regular open katchehries in their respective areas at least once a week to resolve grievances of the masses at their door steps.
In a letter written to Nazims of local body institutions here on Saturday, he advised the nazims to hold open katchehries in a town and pay visits to various districts of province on public day that is on every Wednesday in their offices. He also said that the people would be able to present their problems, which could be resolved at UC, Town/Taluka and District level easily.
This is because the masses are unable to contact their respective Nazim personally, as most of them have no schedule or day fixed for meeting general public, he observed. He further said that masses have a perception that their Nazims are reluctant to face them, because they do not want to resolve their grievances.
The Minister asked Nazims, to prepare a weekly schedule of open katchehries and inform the residents of their respective areas regularly, besides fixing a day in a week for meeting people at their offices.
The main purpose of present local bodies system is to provide all basic amenities of life to general public at their door steps and this aim could not be achieved until Nazims and other elected representatives at local bodies have close liaison with masses, he added. Hussain further asked Nazim to discuss the problems with him and also send a copy of their weekly schedule.
