MoU signed with Sistan Balochistan

Governor Balochistan Awais Ahmed Ghani and visiting Governor General of Iranian Sistan-o-Balochistan Habibullah Dehmerde Saturday singed an MoU at Gwadar to enhance friendly relations between Pakistan and Iran and exchange of official delegations on regular intervals for the purpose.
Besides exchange of visits by delegations at national level, delegations of the respective assemblies and judiciaries will visit each other province for co-operation in these areas.
It was also agreed upon to reactivate the joint chamber of commerce and industry of both the neighbouring provinces of Pakistan and Iran and to hold its sittings on regular basis to increase trade and commerce.
The officials of both the provinces will hold joint sittings after every six months to review progress achieved on the agreements signed under the MoU and removal of bottlenecks. The joint committees and joint border commission will also hold their sitting on regular basis.
Common markets would be set up at border points to increase trade. Gateways set up at Radik (Turbat) and Katagar (Mashkel) would be made operative. Iran would continue power supply to Gwadar and other border areas of Pakistan. Cultural and educational co-operation between the two neighbouring provinces would be increased and university delegations would visit each others province.
Both the provinces would hold joint industrial exhibitions to introduce products of both countries. Iranian companies would be entrusted with the construction of roads for which Iran would provide loans. Both the countries would allow tariff concession to each other on different items.
It was further agreed to sort out obstacles to increase trade volume to one billion dollars per annum. Air service between Zahidan and Quetta will be introduced.
