May 12 events: SHC adjourns contempt case hearing to June 1

The Sindh High Court (SHC), while putting off until June 1 the hearing of the contempt of court petition against Sindh Chief Secretary, Federal and provincial Interior Secretaries and Sindh, Inspector General of Police (IGP) besides several other officials, ordered all concerned to remain present on the next hearing.
The two-member bench, comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Athar Saeed, heard the petition here on Tuesday, while Federal Interior Secretary Kamal Shah, Sindh Chief Secretary Shakil Durrani, Sindh Home Secretary Ghulam Mohammad Mohtaram, Sindh IGP Niaz Ahmad Siddiqui and Karachi CCPO Azhar Faruqui were present on the contempt of court notice.
Advocate Munir-ur-Rahman appeared on behalf of the petitioner. Abrar Hassan, Salahuddin Gandapur and other lawyers were also present on this occasion.
The court, passing remarks on the plea of the lawyers of the respondents asking for time for the submission of rejoinders, said, "For violating court order, you do not even take one hour, while for the filing of reply, you are seeking one-month time." The court ordered all five respondents to remain present on the next hearing.
