German number one Tommy Haas announced on Tuesday that he will miss the French Open due to an injury to his right shoulder. Haas, the world number 10, had two operations on his shoulder in 2003 and had to pull out of the first round of the Rome Masters earlier this month.
He is the second player in the top 20 of the ATP rankings to withdraw from the tournament on Tuesday following Andy Murray's earlier announcement that he will miss the year's second Grand Slam event due to a wrist injury.
The German has only missed one French Open since first playing in the tournament in 1998. He was forced to pull out in 2003 after having the operations to his shoulder which cost him the entire season.
