Persian centre established at Punjab University

The development work of Persian Collection Centre at Punjab University Main Library is in progress and will be shortly opened for students and users. The centre has been established with the co-operation of Khana-e-Farhang, the consulate of Islamic Republic of Iran in Lahore.
A committee comprising Chief Librarian Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif, Chairman Department of Persian, Dr Moeen Nizami and Librarian Oriental Section Hamid Ali under the supervision of Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Professor Muhammad Saleem Mazhar has been constituted to look after the centre.
The establishment of the centre shows the knowledge-friendly environment of the university and efforts of VC Arshad Mahmood for higher education at the university. The centre has a collection of Allama Iqbal's poetic works besides other Pakistani and Iranian poets and scholars of Persian literature.
