The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore's Faculty of Livestock Business Management (FLBM) is initiating MBA and PGD programs in Life Sciences for the professionals of Animal Sciences, Agriculture, Health Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology and other related fields.
In this connection a meeting of experts was arranged in the University to seek experts' inputs for reviewing their curriculum. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz presided over the meeting, while eminent professionals including professors from different universities, stakeholders from poultry and dairy industry and representatives from government quarters participated in this brainstorming session. All the Deans of the UVAS also attended the meeting.
FLBM Dean Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha briefed the participants about the PGD & MBA Life Sciences programs and its curriculum. The main focus of the meeting was that how to make these programs useful for the concerned professionals.
The participants showed satisfaction over the core courses while they suggested that case studies from life sciences and internship in relevant industries must be included in the curriculum. There is an urgent need to strengthen the existing faculty and arrange relevant visiting faculty on market rates comparable to other business institutions was felt.
Regarding the quality assurance, vice-chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz told the participants that already a Quality Enhancement Cell had been established in the UVAS. He assured that these new programs would be started after fulfilling all the requirements and would continuously be monitored by the Quality Enhancement Cell.
