24 May, 2007

LCCI President Shahid Hassan Sheikh, Senior Vice President Yaqoob Tahir Izhar and Vice President Mubasher Sheikh have expressed deep concern over broad daylight dacoity in Karachi wherein a trailer loaded with 1,730 bags of plastic moulding compound of M/s. Al-Sadiq Industries, Lahore, were looted.
The LCCI office-bearers on Wednesday said that at a time when the government was striving for attracting foreign investment and encouraging local businesses, the deteriorating law and order situation is putting a reverse gear to its efforts.
They said that the business community plays an important role in running the affairs of the country and the government should take special steps to protect the businessmen from any such incident.
They said that dacoity will not only affect the business transactions between Karachi and Lahore but will also force the businessmen of upcountry to close down their businesses in Sindh. They demanded Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad, Chief Minister Arbab Raheem, Home Minister, Home Secretary, and IG Sindh to ensure the arrest of the culprits and identify crime prone areas to avert any such incidents in future.
