Former Prime Minister and veteran Muslim Leaguer, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, has called upon the government and opposition to sit together for the sake of Pakistan. Talking to a select group of newsmen during his visit to the office of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) here at Qaddafi Satdium on Thursday.
Jamali maintained that politicians are doing politics while people in the government are enjoying high offices due to Pakistan, therefore, both should sit together for the sake of Pakistan. 'Now center of his politics will be Pakistan only', he said.
Referring to his resignation from PML-Q, he categorically stated that he will not withdraw the resignation, he tendered in protest. He, however, suggested that all the Muslim Leaguers should be united. Praising President Pervez Musharraf, Jamali stated that he has friendship with Musharraf, who has taken various steps to put an end to sense of deprivation in Balochistan.
'Neither General Musharraf had created any problem for me nor I raised any issue for him', he remarked. He was of the view that President Musharraf had taken various steps for the betterment of the country.
Answering a question, he ruled out any possibility of in-house change in the country. Being a Member of Parliament, Jamali said he would continue to strengthen the hands of General Musharraf because he sincerely wants progress of the country and uplift of the nation. To another query, Jamali further said that neither he was going to create new faction of PML or has any relation with any forward bloc.
Moreover, Mir Zafarullah Jamali held a meeting with the officials of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and discussed matters concerning the affairs of national hockey team.
According to sources in PHF, Jamali conveyed his displeasure over poor performance of national hockey team in the recently concluded Azlan Shah Cup. Jamali asked the PHF officials to concentrate on fitness and scoring powers of players and build a strong team for the events like Champions Trophy and Beijing Olympics, the sources said.
He also informed the officials that he had already requested the President Musharraf and the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to ensure the implementation of new sports policy according to which all sportsmen representing Pakistan at international level should be provided employment, sources claimed.
