Message from Prime Minister of Pakistan

27 May, 2007

The LNG Project being set up Pakistan GasPort Limited demonstrates the bold and pioneering vision of its principals. As Pakistan's economy grows, the country requires additional quantities of natural gas to sustain the current growth trend and provide impetus for additional growth.
Natural gas already accounts for about 50% of Pakistan's total gas mix, and the potential addition of 400mmscfd to the country's current supplies of 3,000mmscfd shall greatly improve the outlook for industry in particular and the economy in general.
I am pleased to know that the Project, which is the first of its kind in Pakistan, will also entail extraction of LPG from imported natural gas, thereby adding substantially to another important energy segment. The nationally important GasPort LNG Project is a private sector endeavour and has the support of the Government of Pakistan. I wish the Project all success.
