It gives me immense pleasure to know that Pakistan GasPort Limited is setting up a Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal at Port Qasim, Karachi, which is indeed an important Project for the country and involves an investment of US $162 million.
The Government has taken a conscious decision to use and maintain natural gas as a key primary fuel for the future development of industry and the power sector over the next 25 year. The gas sector has played a key role in fuelling national growth by supplying the power sector, general industry and commercial as well as the domestic sectors during the last few years.
The Government has chalked out an ambitious energy plan to bridge the future supply and demand gap by utilising indigenous hydrocarbon resources and through import of gas.
I felicitate Pakistan GasPort Limited on the occasion of their Project Launch in Karachi. The construction of the LNG Terminal will help supplement the Government's efforts to meet the energy needs of the country in a well-planned manner. I wish them all success in their endeavours.
