In the first meeting since recent border clashes, the Tripartite Commission, comprising senior military representatives from Afghanistan, Pakistan and ISAF held its 22nd plenary meeting in Kabul, an ISAF statement received here said on Sunday.
The Tripartite Commission is an ongoing series of meetings between representatives of the Afghanistan National Army, the Pakistani Army and ISAF. "This was a very valuable meeting," said General Dan K McNeill, ISAF commander.
"I have reason to be hopeful that the tripartite process will continue to bear fruit. The Tripartite Commission is vital to the ultimate peace and stability of the region," the general said. "It is heartening to see that despite some recent tragic clashes along the border, the parties are still committed to building permanent mechanisms for cooperation," he said.
The senior delegates were General Bismullah Khan, chief of the General Staff of the Afghan National Army; General Ahsan Saleem Hyat, vice chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army; and General McNeill.
