Schoolteachers strike hits exams

The primary school examinations could not take place at various places in Faisalabad district on second consecutive day on Saturday as teachers continued their protest.
The city district government has imposed section 144CrPc and police have arrested two teachers, Muhammad Arif and Shahid Jamil, who were protesting against the Punjab government.
Muttahida Mohaz Esattzza Punjab claimed that the boycott by the primary school teachers was successful. Reports reaching here said that in rural areas the examinations were conducted in supervision of peons, clerks and the teachers of the private schools.

Leaders of Action Committee of Punjab Teachers Union (Faisalabad wing) Rana Shaukat Ali, Ghulam Mohyyud din, Chaudhry Ghulam Nabi, Hafiz Khalid Mehmood, Asghar Ali visited the various centers and announced that they would continue the protest and boycott till acceptance of their demands. They said the police had arrested several teachers, who were allegedly trying to create obstacles in the way of the examinations.
