I will lodge murder case against Altaf in UK: Imran

28 May, 2007

Tahreek Insaf Chief Imran Khan has said that he would proceed to London on 9 June and lodge a case of murder of 45 persons against Altaf Hussain, "on whose orders innocent people were killed in Karachi on 12 May". He was addressing via telephone from Lahore to an All Parties Conference, organised here on Sunday by Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party.
The moot was attended by provincial heads of many opposition political parties including PPP-P, PML-N, ANP, PKMAP, Balochistan National Party, Sindh National Front, MMA and others.
Imran Khan charged Altaf and his mafia had held people of Karachi hostage and they needed freedom from this captivity. He claimed that the policemen who had taken part in operation against MQM during Nawaz Sharif and Benazir tenures were killed by MQM with backing of rulers. He also said that present junta was more loyal to Altaf and MQM than to Pakistan and its people. He called present rulers a security risk and asked the nation to get rid of them.
Imran Khan said he would also invoke the House of Lords of UK and ask them to expel Altaf from their country, "as he was ring leader of a terrorist gang involved in killing of hundreds of Sindhis, Mohajirs, Pathans, Balochis and Punjabis". He said that people of Karachi were made prisoners at gunpoint by terrorists. "We have to liberate them", he vowed.
He said on 12 May the people of Karachi would have welcomed Chief Justice of Pakistan but rulers and Altaf Hussain hatched a conspiracy not to allow him enter the city. He said Karachi is not the city of MQM but it belongs to all Pakistanis. He claimed even 10 percent Urdu speaking people were not with Altaf Hussain.
Imran Khan said he was not afraid of threats. He said it was violation of his basic rights to deny him entry in Sindh. He said only MQM and present junta were responsible for the 12 May carnage.
Leader of opposition in Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said there was nothing named government in Sindh province "as it was being ruled by terrorists of MQM". He demanded to arrest the culprits of 12 May and punish them. Gul Muhammad Jakhrani of SNF, Asadullah Bhutto of JI, Senator Dr, Khalid Soomro of JUI, former governor Mamnoon Hussain and others also spoke.
