Switzerland's booming exports lost some steam in April, data showed on Tuesday, but signs of stronger consumer spending supported expectations of further interest rate rises in Switzerland.
Exports fell by a real 1.2 percent compared with March when adjusted for seasonal factors, the Federal Customs Office said. But a jump in the UBS consumption indicator to 2.35 points in April - the highest level since July 2001 - showed brisk consumer spending might have taken over the role as the main driver of Swiss growth.
