Lawyers' strike continues

More than 12,000 lawyers of 13 districts of Southern Punjab on Thursday observed complete strike and boycotted their professional duties at the call of Pakistan Bar Council. Lawyers of Multan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan organised rallies on Thursday and effigies of General Pervez Musharraf and Altaf Hussain were burnt.
Senator Sardar Latif Khosa Chief of PPP (Human Rights Wing) led the rally in D.G. Khan. The rally was led by District Bar President Muhammad Akram Bhatti, Secretary Mumtaz Noor Tangra, Shaikh Muhammad Faheem, Begum Muazzama Hasnain, Bushra Naqvi and others lawyers continued boycotting court proceedings for whole day and staged a token hunger strike for the 69th consecutive day on Thursday to protest the 'suspension' of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
