04 Jun, 2007

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has demanded free and fair elections in the country, under a neutral caretaker set up, independent election commission, monitoring by international observers, and transfer of power to the majority party.
"We believe this is the only honourable way to overcome the serious crisis facing the country," said PPP Vice Chairman Yousuf Raza Gillani, while talking to newsmen at a lunch hosted by PPP Sindh General Secretary Nafis Siddiqui at his residence here on Sunday.
It was attended by Sindh PPPP President Qaim Ali Shah, MNAs Manzoor Wassan, Aftab Shuban Mirani, Pir Aftab Shah Jillani, Syed Khursheed Shah, Dr Mrs. Fahmida Mirza, besides others leaders Rashid Rabbani, Rafique Engineer, and Shahdat Awan.
Yousuf Raza Gillani said that PPP accepts army's rule as provided in the constitution. Army should not rule the country, he added.
