New jetties to be set up along coast: Rind

Balochistan Minister for Fisheries Mir Asghar Rind has said that the government is not only modernising all existing jetties and fish harbours but also establishing new facilities along the coast in the province.
Speaking at Radio Pakistan Quetta centre programme Bil-Mushafa here, he said the government would soon construct seven mini jetties at Jewani, Guns, Soar, Pitkan, Gwadar, Seat Boyt and Kalmat for convenience of the fishermen. The jetties will be constructed with financial assistance of Omanese government, he added
He said tenders to undertake the feasibility study about the jetties have already been issued and work on these projects will be launched as soon as the feasibility study is complete, the minister assured.
Besides, he said the federal government has also agreed to sponsor construction of a jetty at Ormara and expressed the hope that completion of all new jetties will not only make fishing convenient for the fishermen but also increase their routine fish catch which ultimately empower them economically.
Referring to the scheme under which the fishermen have to be provided with marine engines and fishing nets on easy instalments, he said the government had allocated Rs 25 million in the current PSDP for the purpose and expressed the hope that provision of fishing nets, marine engines and their spare parts on easy instalments to the fishermen will also prove a tremendous initiative to promote fisheries sector.
