Honda Motor Co took the top ranking for quality among mass-market automakers in a closely watched annual survey set to be released on Wednesday, a person familiar with the rankings said.
The J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study also showed gains for Ford's Lincoln luxury brand, which claimed the No 3 spot behind No 1 Porsche AG and No 2 Toyota Motor Corp's Lexus luxury brand, the person said. Porsche and Lexus repeated in claiming the two top spots in the quality rankings, the person said.
Lincoln was ranked third overall, up from a No 12 ranking in 2006, and was followed this year by Honda, which eclipsed its faster-growing and larger rival Toyota, according to the person.
