Gram prices up sharply on grain market

Grams prices rose sharply on the local grain market on Thursday as sellers in the wholesale market were hoarding the commodity in expectations of better profit of margin after the budget (2007-08), dealers said.
Most of the items fluctuated in the grams sector, gram garda Punjab low type gained Rs 100 to Rs 2400 and better type rose by Rs 75 to Rs 2550, gram gard dal Punjab followed suit, gaining Rs 75 to Rs 2900-3025. Yellow peas Canada picked up the same amount at Rs 2200-2325, they said.
Yellow peas dall Canada was up by Rs 25 to Rs 2375-2500. Beetle Chana No 1 was higher by Rs 100 to Rs 2750-2900 and beetle 50x50 posted fresh gain of Rs 50 to Rs 2525-2650. Dal beetle low type gained Rs 50 to Rs 3000, better type rose by Rs 75 to Rs 3150, they said. Other items maintained the same level in process of balanced demand and supply position, they said.
On the seed side, rapeseed cakes low type was up by Rs 12 to Rs 392 and better type gained Rs 10 to Rs 395, they said. Cottonseed oilcake with bag good type was higher by Rs 20 to Rs 560 while low type did not move any side at Rs 380, they said.
