Punjab buys 2.5 million tons wheat

Punjab Food department has so far purchased 25,50,860 metric tons of wheat during the current procurement drive in the province. Punjab Minister for Food Hussain Jahanian Gardezi, giving details about the ongoing procurement campaign, said that 2,69,01,090 gunny bags had been distributed among the farmers, according to a handout issued here on Saturday.
During the corresponding period last year, as much as 2,506,937 metric tonnes of wheat were purchased, he said.
