Saarc energy experts leave for Jakarta

A 20-member delegation of senior energy experts from eight South Asian Association of Regional Countries (Saarc) left for Jakarta for discussions to enhance cooperation between Saarc and Asean countries in energy sector.
The delegation is lead by Director-General Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP), Hilal A Raza, who is also the Director of Saarc Energy Centre, Islamabad.
The delegation comprises two energy experts from each Saarc member country, namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, besides the representatives of Saarc Secretariat Kathmandu and Saarc Energy Centre.
The visit has been sponsored by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as part of its program of capacity building among Saarc countries in energy cooperation through the establishment of Saarc Energy Centre in Pakistan as was agreed by the 13th Saarc Summit.
