Remission in water rate, land tax allowed

The Revenue Department, Government of Sindh with the approval of Chief Minister Sindh Dr Arbab Rahim has allowed remission of Kharif 2006 in water rate, land tax, local cess and drainage cess to the 1,243 dehs of 27 talukas of the province on account of damage to crops of Kharif 2006 due to heavy rains/flood in the months of July and August 2006 in the province of Sindh.
According to details given by the authorities of Board of Revenue, Government of Sindh, Hyderabad the dehs of non-calamity affected declared talukas in which remission has been allowed at different scale varying from 25 percent to 100 percent in water rates, land tax, local cess and drainage cess are 11 dehs of taluka Hyderabad, 56 dehs of Mirpur Bathoro, 61 dehs of Sujawal, 57 dehs of Ghorabari, 84 dehs of Mirpur Sakro, 29 dehs of Tando Muhammad Khan, 55 dehs of T.G. Haider, 76 dehs of Bulri Shah Karim, 48 dehs of Matiari, 27 dehs of Saeedabad, 29 dehs of Hala, 21 dehs of Tando Allahyar, 29 dehs of Chamber, 72 dehs of Ghotki, 37 dehs of Khangarh, 59 dehs of Mirpur Mathelo, 47 dehs of Daharki, 56 dehs of Ubaro, 71 dehs of Daur, 70 dehs of Digri, 63 dehs of Jhudo, 28 dehs of Tando Adam, 47 dehs of Shahdadpur, 48 dehs of Pithoro, 12 dehs of Kotri, 12 dehs of Manjhad and 38 dehs of Sehwan.
However, the authorities said the scale of remission has not been applied for the 181 dehs of three talukas including 89 dehs of S.F. Rahu, 54 dehs of Talhar and 38 dehs of taluka Kunari due to the damage less than 25 percent as per scale shown in Rule 42 of Sindh Land Revenue and Rule 1968.
