Pakistan offers attractive incentives in IT sector: President

President General Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday said Pakistan offered attractive incentives for investment in various sectors, particularly the Information Technology.
Talking to Tom Slone, Chairman Touchstone Communications, one of the largest International Call Centres operating in Pakistan, here at President's Camp Office, he said several incentives have been given to investors in the IT sector.
He mentioned tax holidays, establishment of software technology parks, investment in IT human resource development and protection of intellectual property rights to strengthen the vital sector.
He said the IT sector was an engine of growth for a country's economy and improvements have been made in the sector by increasing international and domestic bandwidth, reduction in tariff and provision of fibre optic link to various cities.
Tom Slone appreciated government's business friendly policies and said his organisation was interested in expanding and diversifying its operations in the country. Minister for IT Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari and senior officials were present during the call.
