Over Rs three billion allocated for Mirpur projects

The process of resettlement and rehabilitation of the affectees of under-construction Mangla dam raising project will be completed before the completion of the construction work for raising of the dam.
Official sources said here on Wednesday that with the liberal financial support of the federal government, the AJK government has allocated over Rs 3 billion for two mega projects of public welfare including greater water supply and sewerage for Mirpur.
The state government has started implementing the package of compensation for affectees of the Mangla dam raising project, the sources said and added that since the government was taking full care of the sacrifices of the people of Mirpur district, Mangla dam affectees will be served with the fullest compensation under the already-reached agreement.
The mega water supply and sewerage project will not only meet the full hygienic drinking water requirements of the local population but would also benefit the population of the adjoining hamlets in outskirts of Mirpur city as well as several other parts of the district marked and approved through the plan, the sources revealed.
