PPA seeks level playing field for seed sellers

15 Jun, 2007

Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) has suggested to make the country self-sufficient in edible oil, oil-seeds, soyabean, Jawar, Maize and other crops with the collaboration of private sector and demanded level playing field for the seed sellers to introduce good quality seed without any constraints, said Mir Tahir Zaidi Central Chairman of PPA while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday.
He appreciates the policy decisions taken by the Federal govt on the recommendation of Minfal. On June 07, 2007 a meeting of Federal Poultry Board was held in Islamabad, which was chaired by Sikandar Hyat Khan Bosan, Federal Minister for Food, Agriculture and livestock.
All tariff related proposal of Federal Poultry Board and PPA have been incorporated in Budget 2007-8, which include zero duty on items specific to poultry industry including grain storage silos, feed ingredients including Amino Acid, DCP, MCP, MDCP, all minerals and soyabean meal. Also included in the duty free list are poultry vaccines, evaporative cooling pads and sandwich panel used in modern poultry houses for environment control.
Minfal is cognisant and focused to increase production of crops specific to Feed Industry in Pakistan including Corn, millet, soyabean, canola and sunflower. It is inevitable to give emphasis on agriculture to meeting production targets given in prime minister poultry policy announced recently.
