The President Wapda Employees Pegham Union Siraj-Uddin Saqib has alleged that General Secretary Wapda Hydro Power Union Khurshid Ahmad has got ownership rights transferred in his name of nine Wapda Employees' Labour Halls in violation of rules.
Wapda Hydropower Labour Halls are the property of the workers because they have paid for it. While addressing a press conference here on Monday, he appealed the government to initiate an enquiry into the property of the Khurshid Ahmad and culprit should be severely punished if found guilty.
He further said that in the past, the employment of the Wapda was considered to be most valuable and respectable but now unfortunately, the salary packages and facilities provided to the Wapda workers were less than the other provincial as well as federal departments. Therefore the employees had lost their professional integrity and Wapda Hydro Power Union played negative role and worsened the status of the workers, he maintained.
He further said that leaders of the Wapda Hydro Power Union were among the richest people of the Pakistan. He averred that Khurshid Ahmad had settled his whole family in Australia and constructed a five-star hotel over there with the workers' fund. He appealed to the Chairman National Accountability Bureau to probe the asset of the leaders of the Wapda Hydro Power Union. He demanded of the government to implement the scale up-gradation policy to the Wapda employees and salaries should be enhanced according to the price hike, 15 percent increase in the salaries is insufficient given the inflation rate, he added.
He said that National Industrial Relations Commission had started its proceeding for the CBA election and Wapda Pegham Union had presented the list of 122,000 voters to the competent authority.
He mentioned that a senior member of National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC) had declared that there was no CBA union and both Wapda Pegham Union and Wapda Hydro Power Union had the same status.
