19 Jun, 2007

The European Parliament (EU) during its recently held session at Brussels incorporated the amendments suggested by Kashmiri leaders in the Emma Nicholson reports on Kashmir by an overwhelming majority.
Kashmir Media Service reported that majority of the EU members supported the historical facts about the Kashmir issue and acknowledged Kashmiris' right to self-determination. The UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir adopted from 1948 to 1971 were considered as righteous. Human rights violations in occupied Kashmir were condemned.
The EU session appreciated Pakistan-India dialogue and inclusion of Kashmiris as a party in the process was supported. Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf's proposals on Kashmir were also appreciated.
