US MIDDAY: corn turns higher

Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were higher at midday on Wednesday on forecasts for drier weather in the eastern US Midwest next week, traders said.
At 12:02 pm CDT (1702 GMT), CBOT corn was up 2 to 8-3/4 cents per bushel, with July up 2 at $3.97-3/4. New-crop December was up 5-3/4 at $4.09-1/4. Corn futures fell sharply on Tuesday on rains early this week in the dry areas of the eastern US Corn Belt and on outlooks for more rain later this week. Oat futures were 2-3/4 to 5-1/4 cents per bushel higher, with July up 3-3/4 at $2.76.
