Senate body on rules of procedure meets

The Senate Committee on Rules of Procedures and Privileges Friday met under the Chairmanship of Senator Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi to consider the Privilege Motion moved by Senator Muhammad Enver Baig.
The Chairman of the Committee said that the Parliament and its committees are supreme and nobody can be permitted to violate their sanctity. The Privilege of the Members of the Parliament, being elected representatives of the people, therefore, must be upheld at all cost.
He said that both Senator Enver Baig and Dr Nasim Ashraf were highly respected citizens and both held positions of great dignity and honour. The mover, Senator Mohammad Enver Baig accepted the statement of Chairman PCB Dr Nasim Ashraf and both withdrew their remarks.
Senator Tahir Hussain Mashhadi appreciated and lauded the maturity and patriotism shown by both the individuals and said that by their amicable settlement both had displayed great dignity and grace, thereby enhancing their prestige and respect in the eyes of the Committee and indeed the whole nation.
Dr Nasim Ashraf announced withdrawal of his legal notice to Senator Enver Baig out of the respect and deference to the Parliamentary Committee. He apologised and said he felt sorry if he had hurt the feelings and sentiments of the honourable Senator.
The Chairman and Members of the Committee asked the Chairman adhoc Committee of PCB to expedite the matters relating to adoption of the board's constitution which had been pending for the last many years as this is the core issue was the main cause of this motion, says a press release here Friday.
