Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has expressed grief and sorrow over the colossal loss of human lives in Saturday's thunderstorm.
According to a press release issued here on Monday, the FPCCI said that most of deaths of the deaths numbering over 230 were caused by up rooting of trees and signboards, snapping of electric wires, collapse of roofs and walls in the metropolis. The FPCCI criticised the Karachi Electricity Supply Corporation (KESC) as most of the city plunged into darkness for several hours after the thunderstorm.
"As many as 17 residential areas of Karachi are without electricity for over 40 hours, including the commercial area of Sharah-e-Liaquat, North Nazimabad and Korangi. The industrial areas of North Karachi, Korangi and Landhi are also affected seriously. The other commercial and residential areas of Karachi are faced with load-shedding for hours together," the release said.-PR
