U-15 football championship starts

The 6th edition of National Under-15 Football Championship 2007, is starting on Wednesday, 27th June under floodlit at Khanewal's Municipal Stadium. Nazim Khanewal Sardar Ahmad Yar Hiraj will inaugurate the event. Khanewal District Football Association is hosting the 16-team event in collaboration with Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).
According to a spokesman of PFF, the Punjab Governor Lieutenant General (Retd) Khalid Maqbool will be chief guest at glittering closing ceremony on 7 July 2007. The event will promote the game of soccer in Southern Punjab.
'We will arrange the event in a befitting manner and make it a historical event in Khanewal's sporting history," said event chief organiser, Sardar Hamid Yar Hiraj, who is Minister of State for Commerce.
The 16-team event will be comprised of three U-15 teams of those clubs which had booked berth for Pakistan Premiership 2007 viz Wohaib FC (Lahore), Afghan Club (Chaman) and Punjab Medical College (Faisalabad). Host Crown Club of Khanewal completes the frame with Northern Areas, FATA, Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Islamabad with two teams each from four provinces.
Punjab will defend the title who were also champions in 1993. Sindh were also victorious twice (1994, 2004) while Balochistan clinched the 2005 edition at Quetta.
