High flood hampers Quetta gas line repair

30 Jun, 2007

High flood in Bolan River restrained the team of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) from start of repair work on the ruptured main pipeline supply natural gas to Quetta, Pishin and Ziarat.
According to a SSGC spokesman here on Friday, the main gas transmission pipeline passing through Bolan River bed between Dhadar and Gokart was still inaccessible due to persisting high water level in the river.
It may be noted that this pipeline was ruptured due to high flood on Wednesday, discontinuing gas supply to Quetta, Mastung, Pishin, Kalat, Ziarat and other villages, after the line pack between Abe-gum and Quetta expired.
The spokesman said that SSGC crews were all set to embark on fast-track repair of the pipeline as soon as the area becomes accessible. The spokesman has once again requested its customers to kindly cooperate with the gas company in this situation of calamity.
He requested the customers to ensure that their gas appliances were switched off during this period of non-availability of gas to avoid accidents when the normal gas supply is restored.
