No PAC record damaged by fire: Allah Yar

30 Jun, 2007

The fire inside the parliament building early this week did not damage any record of Public Accounts Committee (PAC), official sources said. PAC Chairman Allah Yar Khan has contradicted media reports which suggested that some crucial documents of the committee were missing after the late night fire incident.
"Reports on PAC record damage are baseless and have no reality," he said in a statement issued here on Friday. The fire burnt a few offices at the fourth flour of the parliament on June 26. All newspapers and television channels later reported that PAC office, that homes important record, was also damaged.
Allah Yar said that no such thing happened. The PAC is a parliamentary corruption watchdog and its record is thought to be highly sensitive.
