Printing and publishing industry: need to exploit export potentials stressed

Trade Development Authority of Pakistan's (TDAP) Chief Executive Officer Tariq Ikram has said that the printing and publishing industry of Pakistan has a lot of export potential. He said that presently the printing and publishing exports of the country accounted for two million dollars only, while the imports were 40 million dollars.
However, he added that the exports were growing at a rate of 37 percent per annum. Speaking as chief guest at the 37th National and 14th International Airlines printing and Designing Graphic Art Award 2007 here on Thursday, he said the country's printing and publishing sector was not underdeveloped, otherwise the imports could have been 400 million dollars.
He said the basic infrastructure was already available, the need only was of improvement, as there was a lot of room for improvement and there was a billion-dollar potential market throughout the world.
Later, the chief guest distributed awards among the winners and congratulated them. He said that such awards were quite encouraging for winners and the participants alike.
